Signs Your Struts May Be Worn

Struts do more than smooth out bumps — they affect how your car handles, stops, and wears its tires. Worn struts have recognizable signs.

A bouncy or rough ride

If the car bounces more than usual after a bump or feels harsh over small imperfections, the struts may have lost their damping ability.

Nose-diving and body roll

Excessive nose-dive when braking or noticeable lean in corners can indicate worn struts. You may also hear clunking or knocking from the suspension over bumps.

Uneven tire wear

Worn struts can cause cupped or uneven tire wear. If you notice both a rough ride and unusual tire wear, a suspension inspection is a good next step.
