How Long Do Brake Pads Last?

Brake pad life varies widely because it depends on driving habits, vehicle type, and conditions. Rather than a fixed mileage, it's better to have your brakes inspected and let their condition guide the timing.

What affects pad life

Stop-and-go city driving wears pads faster than highway driving. Heavier vehicles and aggressive braking also increase wear. The pad material itself — ceramic, semi-metallic, or organic — affects longevity.

Signs it's time for an inspection

Squeaking, squealing, a longer stopping distance, a soft or low pedal, or a brake warning light are all reasons to have the brakes inspected. Don't wait for a noise to become grinding.

We inspect before recommending

We measure pad thickness and inspect the rotors, calipers, and hardware before recommending any brake work. You'll see what we find before any repair begins.
